Service Manager
The Service Manager allows you to start, stop, or configure the ControlSuite AutoStore Service.
The ControlSuite AutoStore Service is started by running batch.exe as a service. It can be run using Windows Services or using the Windows Task Manager.
The AutoStore service account has to be part of the local Administrators group.
During an AutoStore process development cycle, you first use AutoStore Process Designer to create and save a workflow process in a configuration (CFG) file. Then you start (or restart) the ControlSuite AutoStore Service using the configuration file. On the Home tab of the AutoStore Process Designer ribbon, you can click Start, Stop, or Restart to start, stop, or restart the ControlSuite AutoStore Service. On the Home tab, you can also click Service Manager to administer the ControlSuite AutoStore Service.
Automatic service restart
The automatic service restart option allows an administrator to set daily restart times. The AutoStore service will automatically restart at the configured times.
To configure automatic restart times, open the Service Manager dialog box, click the General tab, then click the Configure button. On the AutoStore service restart configuration dialog box, add and delete daily restart times.
Stopping timeout means the watchdog service will wait for the configured time until the AutoStore service gracefully stops. If this time is not sufficient to stop the AutoStore service, the watchdog service will kill the AutoStore service. If the graceful stop or kill process is successful, the watchdog service starts the AutoStore service.
The maximum timeout is 60 minutes. A zero timeout means no timeout is applied and the restart function will wait forever for AutoStore service to stop.
The starting process will affect all AutoStore services running on the server where the restart times were set. All steps of the reboot procedure are logged in the Windows event logs.
The preferred settings are:
- Set a restart time at 3:15 a.m. daily if the license is updated at 3:00 a.m. (This is the default setting.)
Limitations
- The feature will not work properly if the batch process was not started from the Windows Service Manager manually from command line. Only those batch processes can be restarted which otherwise can be restarted by using the Windows Service Manager.
- Please note that all documents being processed will be lost if AutoStore is unable to stop gracefully during the timeout configured and the process-kill command takes place.
