Color and Grayscale Images

  • JPG is the standard file format for color and grayscale images. You cannot convert bitonal (black and white) images to the JPG file format.

  • If all the images in the batch are color and/or grayscale, you select JPG-JPEG Compression.

  • If the images in the batch are mixed (color, grayscale, and/or bitonal images), you select a file format combination that includes the TIFF file format with any compression other than JPEG compression. The exported images all have the .TIF file extension. However, any color images in the batch contain compressed JPEG data within the TIFF file format.

Exporting Image, Non-image, and Combination Files

The following table describes how documents are exported to the IBM FileNet Content Manager object store, depending on which primary image format is selected, whether the Export OCR with documentt option is enabled on the Image Settings tab, and whether the Kofax Capture Allow import of eDocument files option is selected. Note that Allow import of eDocument files can be selected from the Batch Class Properties window Advanced tab.

In IBM FileNet Content Manager, the following occurs for each document:

  • All images are listed in the order that they are scanned or imported.

  • One document is exported that contains content elements for each image, eDocument, Kofax PDF document, and/or OCR full text file.

  • The OCR full text file is always the last content element exported.

When you double-click on the exported document, you can directly view only the first content element. To view the remaining content elements, you must open the properties of the exported document and select the Content Element tab. Then view any content element in the list by double-clicking it.

Note If you attempt to export a document that contains only eDocuments and you have selected Kofax PDF as the file format or enabled the "Export OCR full text with document" option on the Image Settings tab, the export fails and the document is sent to the Kofax Capture Quality Control module.
