Annotating an Image

If you need to mark up an image or add notes directly to the page, you can add an annotation, which becomes a permanent part of the image.

Note  This step applies only to images. For other types of documents, open the file in the appropriate editor.

  1. Make sure you are at the Create/Edit Job screen. To edit a job, follow the instructions to open it as shown in Editing a Job.

  2. Move the mouse over the page. A toolbar appears in the upper right corner.

  3. Open a page for editing by doing either of the following:

    • Double-click the page.

    • Select the page and click Edit.

The page opens in a separate window. Scroll to the portion of the page where you want to add the annotation.

  4. Move the mouse over the page. A toolbar appears on the right with buttons for zooming in and out and editing the page. See Thin Client Toolbar Buttons and Keyboard Shortcuts for descriptions of the Edit Page screen toolbar buttons.

Note  Changes are applied to an image when they are made. Redactions and notes are applied permanently to the image.

  5. Click Add image annotation.

  6. Click-drag the cursor over the portion of the page where you want to add the annotation.

A box appears for your text.

  7. Enter the text into the text box.

  8. When you finish entering text, press Enter.

  9. When prompted to confirm that you want to add the annotation as a permanent part of the image, click Yes.

Tip  Add a border to image annotations by using the Redact with black color and Redact with white color buttons. First, use Redact with black color to create a black square that is larger than the area you plan to annotate. Then, use Redact with white color to create a white square within the black square. Finally, create the annotation within the white square.
