The Search dialog box provides both basic and advanced search options.
Click the Search tool at the right of the Home ribbon and choose Search Current or Search Multiple from the drop-down list. If you choose Search Current you receive a simple dialog box.
To search for text using the Search dialog box
Open the Search dialog box by choosing Search Multiple.
Select the search scope in the Look In area: Current Document, Selected PDF files in Opened Package or Portfolio, The Entire Opened PDF Package or Portfolio, Selected Folder, Currently Selected Indexes, Select Index. Select a folder or one or more indexes where appropriate.
Select a search type: a single word or phrase, multiple words or phrases, pre-defined patterns (US Social Security numbers, phone numbers, credit card numbers, E-mail addresses and dates), or custom-defined patterns (arbitrary masks).

To search a single word or phrase, enter any words, word fragments, or phrases of interest.
To search multiple words or phrases, click Select Words and compile a search list.
To search by pattern, choose the desired pattern from the drop-down list.
To search by custom-defined pattern, enter the pattern using the syntax shown.
Click Search. The search result will be displayed in page order, showing the context as well. Click an item, to display the page with the search result highlighted. The number of occurrences is displayed in the bottom-right of the Result list.
Click Stop if necessary, to cancel searching.
Click New Search to start a new searching process.
To search in a Portfolio or a Package
Open one or more Portfolio or package files. They appear in the Portfolio interface.
Click the Search button in the title bar of the Portfolio window and choose one of the portfolio or package items in the Look In area. In the Search results panel you may have to click down one folder level from the temporary portfolio storage location to see a file list. Click a file to see its found occurrences. Click an item to view its page.
To search only in comments
Click the Search Comments tool at Comment > Comment Processing or in the toolbar of the Comments panel.
To search and markup text
Click Search and Markup at Comment > Annotate to perform a search, then apply a markup to selected occurrences. For detail, see Markup Tools.
