Password self-service

PSIsafe Web offers the same password self-service functionality that is found in PSIsafe Desktop. Password policies and configuration options are managed in PSIsafe Management.

You must have your database configuration settings set within the login window and be successfully connected to your PSIsafe database for password self-service features to appear, as these features are enabled based on specific configuration options.

Explore the details below to perform various aspects of password self-service in PSIsafe Web.

Forgot your password

The appearance of the Forgot your password link at the bottom of the PSIsafe Web login window is directly tied to the feature located in System > Settings > Options > Password > Enable Reset in PSIsafe Management.

Enable this checkbox to allow users to reset their password via the Forgot your password link.

As well, the password policy requirements can be set in this same configuration area of PSIsafe Management.

To reset your password:

  1. Browse to PSIsafe Web in your compatible internet browser.
  2. Below the login window, click the Forgot your password link.

    The Password Reset window appears.

  3. Input your PSIsafe user name and associated email address, click Reset Password, and proceed to step 5. If the "Enable Security Challenge" feature is enabled, click Next.

The security questions dialog appears. Enable or disable this feature is via System > Settings > Options > Password > Enable Security Challenge in PSIsafe Management.

  4. Select an appropriate Security Question and input the corresponding Security Answer.

If the password reset is successful, the message "Password reset was submitted. Please check your email" appears.

  5. Open your email input in Step 3 and retrieve the generated password.

This password is valid until changed, and does not automatically expire. Kofax recommends changing your password immediately.

  6. Return to the login screen and complete the login with your newly-generated password.

Change password

The appearance of the Change Password feature in the upper-right corner is based on the feature located in User Settings > Users > User cannot change password > in PSIsafe Management. When this box is un-checked, users can reset their password once logged-in directly from this button.

To change your password:

  1. Browse to PSIsafe Web in your compatible internet browser and log in. If you've forgotten your password, follow the steps in the previous section first.
  2. Click the Change Password button in the upper-right. The Change Password window appears.
  3. Input an appropriate password into the fields marked Old Password, New Password, and Confirm Password.

Note: If a Password Policy is enabled, ensure that the entries in the New Password and Confirm Password fields comply with the password policy requirements. Click the Policy button to see more details about the password policy requirements. Enable or disable this feature is via System > Settings > Options > Password > Enable Password Policy in PSIsafe Management.

  4. Select Change Password to complete the change.
  5. Click Cancel to cancel the change instead.

Users will be unable to complete this process if the feature User cannot change password is enabled on their account.
  6. After being automatically logged out, proceed to logging back in to with your newly changed password.

Change password on next login

In some instances, a administrator may enable the setting "Change password on next login" which will prompt the user to change their password in the same fashion stated above via the message "Change of password is required to proceed."

To change a password as a user when this setting has been enabled by a administrator:

  1. Browse to PSIsafe Web in your compatible internet browser and log in.

The message "Change of password is required to proceed" appears immediately after your login is complete.

  2. Click Change Password.
  3. Follow steps 3-5 in the previous section to complete your password change.

Password reset questions

Password reset questions are set on an individual account basis by the user.

When using the Forgot your password feature, these security questions are optionally required to complete the process. Enable or disable this feature is via System > Settings > Options > Password > Enable Security Challenge in PSIsafe Management.

To set your password reset questions:

  1. Browse to PSIsafe Web in your compatible internet browser and log in.
  2. Click the Setup Password Reset Questions button in the upper-right.

The Password Reset Questions window appears.
