About sending items as e-mail attachments

PaperPort works with many popular e-mail programs, such as Microsoft Outlook.

To e-mail an item as an attachment, drag and drop the item to your e-mail program on the Send To bar.

The e-mail program starts, and PaperPort attaches the item to a new empty e-mail message. Add text and send it. The e-mail recipient can open the attachment to view or save the sent item.

Useful file formats are JPEG or PDF. Although many e-mail programs provide the option to display HTML content within the body of e-mail messages, some recipients must launch their web browser to view an HTML attachment.

MAX files sent as attachments can be viewed only by people who possess PaperPort. In PaperPort 14, MAX files are read-only, so using the MAX to PDF Converter before sending is recommended.

To attach an item to an e-mail message

  1. On the PaperPort desktop, select the item you want to send.

  2. Drag the item to your e-mail program on the Send To bar.

    — or —
Click on the PaperPort button and choose  Send...

  3. If this is the first time you send an e-mail from PaperPort, the Send To Options dialog box appears. Specify any options you want, such as the format in which to send your items, and then click OK.

The e-mail program starts, and PaperPort attaches the item to a new empty e-mail message. Add text, an address and subject, then send the e-mail message.

Depending on which e-mail program you use, the steps for sending a message may vary slightly.

Tips

To change the Send To Options for your e-mail program at any time, right-click the program icon in the Send To bar, and click Send To Options.

Although web-based e-mail services, such as Yahoo Mail or Gmail, are not available as linked programs for the Send To bar, you can still use them. Save the desired items to your file system in suitable file types, start the e-mail program, create your message and then attach the files.
