To provide more working space on the PaperPort desktop, hide or resize the Folders pane:
To display the Folders pane
Choose
Folders on the Desktop ribbon.
To hide the Folders pane
On the Desktop ribbon, choose Folders again.
— or —
In the Folders pane, click the Close button.
To resize the Folders pane
To display the contents of a folder or sub-folder and view its items on the PaperPort desktop:
List, or
Details.Details view shows file type, file size, modification date, and image dpi and bit depth. Customize this view by adding /or deleting attributes. Rearrange columns by dragging the column title box to the desired position. To sort items according to attribute, display Details view, and click the corresponding column title box.
— or — Click Properties and choose a color from the Color box.
To specify the default name and color for new folders and subfolders created or added to the Folders pane.

Back button shows the history of recently visited folders.
On the Desktop ribbon, click the arrow next to
Back to see the list of previously visited folders.
Choose
Back from the list to get back to the most recently visited folder, or select another folder from the list to get back there.
Thumbnails of the selected folder appear on the PaperPort Desktop. If Folders is chosen as Function Pane, the corresponding folder is selected and displayed as the active (opened) folder.
With a split desktop, Back functions on the active workspace.
You can connect external devices, such as Zip, Jazz, CD or other drive types to your computer for use with PaperPort. These devices, once connected, should appear as drives or disks on My Computer.
This feature enables you to:
Browse the contents of removable media and add items to your PaperPort desktop.
Drag and drop files onto the Evernote icon in the Send To bar to direct them to this web storage site.
Add external disks and network drives as PaperPort folders; these must remain available in order to access their contents from PaperPort at a later time.
To retain folders from removable media that may not always be available, you should copy the folder to your local machine and add it to PaperPort from there.
