The Add-ons policy dialog: General settings

ClosedTo access this dialog:

  1. On the Configuration tab of the Administration module, expand System specifications.

  2. Select Global policies.

  3. In the right pane, double-click Add-ons.

Use these settings to specify the location of add-ons:

Use default installation directory

The default installation directory (C:\Program Files\ReadSoft\DOCUMENTS\Plugins) acts as the server folder. This is not recommended if more than one workstation is used. However, it works for multi-machine systems if only standard components are used.

Use global path

Specifies where add-ons are located for distribution. This location must be accessible by all workstations in the system.

Load add-ons directly from original location

When you start a module, add-ons are first copied to your local workstation as usual, but the module then loads the add-ons directly from the server.

Use this option only in special cases, for example when you are debugging an add-on that was developed on site and want to avoid loading add-ons from the local folder.

Always copy to local area

All add-ons are copied from the server to the local workstation, replacing any local versions, each time the Administration or Production module is started. Selecting this option overrides the related settings in the Add-on configurations dialog: Distribution settings.
