Four levels of user management are provided in the Administration and Production modules:
Anyone can use the Administration and Production modules without any restrictions or login.
Appropriate for small organizations in which the same people perform all production tasks and might not need special user management capabilities.
Anyone can use the Production module without any restrictions or login.
Only an administrator can modify the system configuration using the Administration module.
Users and user groups are assigned rights for the Administration and Production modules. They must log on to access these modules.
Users and user groups can open only the runtime systems, solutions, and production tasks that they are assigned to.
Production tasks are assigned to users and user groups.
If basic user management is enabled, you cannot later switch to or . However, you can enable role-based user management.
Roles (such as scan or Verify operators) are used, and roles are assigned rights for the Production module.
Roles are unique to each solution. For example, in a solution that is used to run tests, a verifier role might have permission to delete documents. In a solution that contains critical data, a role with the same name might not have that permission. By assigning users to different roles in different solutions, it is possible to change their permissions and assigned tasks in a very dynamic way.
Production tasks are assigned to roles. Users and user groups are then assigned to the roles that they are expected to perform.
Users and user groups must log on to access the system.
They can open only the runtime systems, solutions, and production tasks that are assigned to their roles.
If role-based user management is enabled, you cannot later switch to another level.
