Interpret while scanning is an option that you can select when creating certain types of field definitions. In the Field dialog, click the Options tab.
Interpret while scanning is for immediate interpretation of an individual field when you cannot wait for the field to be interpreted by Interpret. An example might be when you want to find out who responded to a survey so that you can promptly send reminders to the non-responders.
A maximum of three fields can be interpreted while scanning. Each indexed field in a series counts as one field in this context.
This option does not work if combined with Store forms to files after identification or Store forms to files without identification.
