FORMS always sees forms and their appendices as one unit. Therefore, any form with an incorrect number of appendices is considered an unidentified form.
If you are scanning forms with appendices, FORMS stops scanning if too many appendices are scanned, or if too few appendices occur before a new form is scanned, based on the limits you used the Manager to specify for the form definition.
If this happens, an image of the last appendix is displayed on the screen, and the Operator control dialog shows an error message. You can scroll and view the appendices, as well as look at the backs of the pages, in order to find the error.
The usual procedure in this case is as below:
Retrieve the form and all its appendices (because FORMS sees them as one unit) from the scanner output tray, as well as any pages scanned after them.
Fix the problem with the form and its appendices (for example, add a missing appendix or remove an extra one).
Place the stack in the document feeder in the correct order, with the unidentified form (if it is to be used) as the first page to be scanned.
Scan these pages again by clicking Rescan.
If you choose Continue, only what FORMS considered the incorrect appendix to be is ignored. Other forms that entered the scanner’s buffer after the incorrect one are used. This is appropriate, for example, when an extra page has mistakenly been put among the pages and scanned.
If you choose Stop, the last form and all its appendices are discarded. All previously scanned forms and their appendices are saved.
