Optimizing color conversion

The default settings are appropriate for most situations, but the following steps will help you optimize them to achieve a desired effect. You can enhance adjustment objects to improve form identification, for example.

Note: The conversion settings cannot be changed after a field is defined on the form.

  1. Adjust scanner settings, using filled-in forms, so that you obtain good quality color images.

  2. Using Manager, right-click under the Form definitions object bar and select New ð Scan new image using a filled-in form from step 1. This is so that you can see how your adjustments affect the text that is to be interpreted.

  3. Adjust the settings that FORMS uses to convert images from color to grayscale.

  4. Adjust the settings that FORMS uses to convert images from grayscale to black and white.

  5. Now scan a blank form, and set up the form definition in the normal manner (Start with step 3 in the Stage one of creating a form definition.). If you closed the Color conversion dialog by clicking OK, the settings there are applied to your new form definition automatically.

  6. Further adjustments to color conversion can be made on the field level. How?
