This topic is about creating or updating a table from a table file created in another application. If you want to import a table previously exported to a file in FORMS, see Importing definitions and tables.
The table file must conform to certain specifications. Ensure that yours does before proceeding.
To create a new table based on the text file, create a new table. Then click Close to save the table and close the Table dialog.
If the table you want to update already exists, skip this step.
Click the Tables object bar and select the table you want to import the text file data to.
Select ð Import from text file. The Import table dialog is displayed.
Click and navigate to the text file to import data from.
Optional: Select Append to table to add data from the file to an existing table. Do not select Append to table if you are creating a new table based on the imported file.
Optional: Update existing keys is selected by default. If any keys in the imported file match keys in the existing table, those records in the existing table are overwritten. Deselect Update existing keys to ignore records in the imported file that match key values in the existing table.
Click Import. FORMS imports the external file to the table. Warning: There is no "Undo" function.
Double-click the newly imported table. In the Table dialog, ensure that the result is what you expected.
