A variable represents a value that is not currently known. Most system variables represent data that stems from an aspect of invoices processing, rather than a value from a specific invoice.
A system variable is usually a hash mark plus a word describing what the variable represents. You use these in transaction descriptions.
Example: #Date represents the date when an invoice is scanned.
