Selecting a scanner is part of creating a scanner description.
The scanner must be connected, its power must be on, and the correct driver must be installed.
Using Manager, click the Scanner descriptions object bar.
Right-click in the space under the object bar, and select New.
The message, "No contact with scanner. Check the scanner and the cables..." is displayed. This is normal because you have not defined your scanner settings yet. Click OK.
In the Scanner settings dialog, click Select scanner.
Different scanner types are listed in the Select scanner dialog, depending on the type of scanner card being used. Select the type of scanner you are using. (See the documentation for your scanner to find the model number.)
Click OK to close the dialog.
If the message ‘No contact with scanner. Check the scanner and the cables...’ is displayed now, there is a problem. Correct the problem and go back to step 3.
