For complex scripts, the font must be either already embedded in the PDF file (including GPOS/GSUB tables) or it must be loaded from a font file and then embedded into the PDF document. For the latter case, you need a font configuration, see Font Configuration.

The behavior of U+00AD (SOFT HYPHEN), U+2028 (LINE SEPARATOR), and U+2029 (PARAGRAPH SEPARATOR) is undefined.
