The Profile Tool allows you to manage connector, service profile information, watchers and Data Publishing maps between ShareScan Managers. You can export such information from a Manager, then start up another Manager, and import this information.
To access the tool, go to Administration Console > Advanced tab > Tools > Profile Tool.
Notes:
If you plan to use the Profile Import / Export tool (Administration Console, Advanced Tab, Tools menu button / Profile Tool) when the system is configured to use Windows Integrated Authentication for database access, observe the following workarounds.
or
To perform an export, do as follows:
.dme
.To perform an import, do as follows:
Note:
When you plan to export and then import profiles for such connectors that require a client software for proper functioning (such as document management systems, Lotus Notes, etc.) across different Manager machines, ensure that you have the relevant 3rd party software packages installed on the target Manager machine before importing. If you fail to do so, the import itself may be successful, but runtime errors will occur, since these connectors cannot function properly without their respective backend interface components.
Note:
Unlike connector profiles, newly imported watchers do not automatically overwrite watchers with the same name already existing on the target machine. (These imported watchers are created as new ones.) To update a watcher via import, first you have to delete the current watcher (on the target machine) and then do the import.
Note:
If importing services.profile
and connectors.profile
at same time, do not modify the order of the service and connector profile. The service profile must be preceded by the connector profile in the 'processing order' list.
