Batch file conversions

This Power PDF Advanced feature lets you efficiently convert batches of TIFF or PDF files to the other file type, with access to settings. Move files for conversion to a single folder, then choose the Batch Controls tool:

Find this in the Batch group of the Advanced Processing ribbon; choose Batch Converter from the drop-down list.

Batch Converter dialog box

  1. Click the Source button to choose the input folder. Choose the file type: PDF (any flavor) or TIFF (any flavor) to generate a file list.

  2. The number of found documents is displayed. Select the files to be converted from this list or click Select All.

  3. Decide whether to skip or respect PDF password protection.

  4. Click the Destination button to select the output folder. Choose the target file type. The offering is TIFF or multi-page TIFF (with compression and file size choices under Settings), image-only PDF (no settings) or Searchable PDF (select OCR language and image pre-processing choices). For saving to PDF, choose the desired PDF type (normal or to a range of PDF/A standards).

  5. Click Settings if desired to check or change settings and check the available disk space.

  6. Enable or disable warnings if existing files are about to be overwritten.

  7. Click View Log for a plain text report on conversion results.

Note

OCR must be used when creating Searchable PDF from TIFF or image-only PDF. A suitable OCR language choice increases accuracy.

If your source folder and destination folders are the same, the original files may be overwritten without warning, even if warnings were requested. Use of different folders is advised.
