This ribbon contains the following groups and tools, from left to right:
Pages group
![]()
Open the Pages panel to see and work with thumbnails of all pages in the current document.
![]()
Extract pages from the current document or insert pages into it. When extracting, choose one or more pages and whether to keep or drop extracted pages in the current document. When inserting, you can build up a file list from multiple folders, choose page ranges (with a preview facility) and define an insertion location. These operations are also possible in Document Assembly mode.
![]()
Rotate pages: choose current page, selected pages or a page range and choose from three rotation values. This command really rotates the pages, so the rotation persists whenever and whereever the file is opened. Use the View ribbon if you just want to temporarily rotate the view.
![]()
Delete pages or Add new empty pages. Delete current or selected pages or define a page range. For Add, define page size, orientation number and the add location.
![]()
Replace pages: Select a replacement file and add more files as desired. Define the pages to be removed, and choose the replacement pages, with the ability to define page ranges.
Assemble group
![]()
Open the Watermarks panel the Bookmarks panel or the Destinations panel, respectively.
![]()
Headers and Footers: add, update or remove headers and footers. Adding can be done to multiple documents. Updating and removing apply only to the current document. In Power PDF Advanced, headers or footers may include Bates numbering.
![]()
Doc assembly: Transform the current view (as set by Scroll options in the View ribbon) to a set of smaller pages, to make it easier to rearrange pages within the current document or between multiple documents. Each page has a number bar to allow easy page dragging. Document Assembly view is applied to all open documents. To exit this view, click its tool again.
When this mode is selected, two additional tools appear:
![]()
Page Assembly: This allows pages to be previewed and added from other documents.
![]()
Renumber Pages: This becomes active only if the current document contains auto-generated page numbering in a header or footer. When clicked, it applies the updated page order to the real page numbering.
Favorites group and tool
![]()
Favorites: Use the drop-down list to add the current document to favorites or to manage favorites.
Scan group and tool
![]()
Scan: Use the drop-down list to setup a scanner, then scan to a new document or append the scans to the current document. In Power PDF Advanced you can also Scan and Markup (that is have a defined word or phrase or pattern highlighted, crossed-out, underlined or marked for redaction in all scanned pages). Power PDF Advanced also offers a Scan Inbox facility (at Advanced Processing > Batch), that automatically generates PDF files from any scans directed to a defined Inbox folder.
Process group
![]()
Make PDF Searchable: Transforms Image-only PDF files or files with image-only parts containing scanned text to a searchable PDF; it does this by running OCR on the image-only parts to create or supplement the document's text layer.
![]()
Redact: This is available only in Power PDF Advanced. Its drop-down list allows redaction properties to be set (including the use of redaction codes), texts to be searched and redacted, or marked individually for redaction, then later making all such market texts permanently unreadable.
![]()
Optimize, Split and Compare, respectively. Optimize the current document to reduce its file size, by excluding elements and downsizing images. Split the current document by one of a variety of criteria. Compare the current PDF document with a modified version of itself to see the differences marked according to your choices. It is also possible to compare a PDF document with a Word document.
Search group and tool
![]()
Search: Find a word or phrase in the current document, or perform more complex searches through one or many documents, to find one or more search strings, using pre-defined or custom-built patterns, Boolean operators, or by using pre-compiled indexes.
PaperPort Desktop group and tool
![]()
Switch to the PaperPort desktop displaying the current file along with all others located in that file's folder. This tool appears only if Nuance PaperPort is detected on the computer.
