Scan Documents activity

This activity imports data (documents) into XBOUND after scanning by these collectors:

The configuration of the process steps of this activity type impact the selection of the correct process step for the acquisition of scanned data. The collectors then have the task of selecting the correct Scan Documents process step out of all those in the XBOUND system. The approach is outlined here.

Other Scan Documents settings control when root documents and/or sub-documents for each sheet are created and whether the root documents must be registered.

If for some reason you need to add this activity to the Process Designer, the file to add is xboundActImport.dll.

The following settings are available when configuring a process step of this activity type.

Type of incoming documents

Select Documents are already registered if batches are registered in the process. In this case no new root document is created. Instead, the incoming data is added to the existing root document.

Criteria for incoming documents

Type regular expressions that are used for checking the name of the incoming batch, the computer name, the job name, and the import folder.

Note: The Collector for XBOUND SCAN CLIENT provides a job name, which is the name of the scan profile. The Collector for IBML SoftTrac also provides a job name.

This option is disabled if Documents are already registered is selected.

Create one root document per scanned batch

Select this option if one root document is to be created for each scanned batch.

This option is disabled if Documents are already registered is selected.

Root document type

The document type to be assigned to the root documents during import.

Retain sub-document structure of the scanned batch

Select this option if sub-documents of the scanned batches are to be retained as XBOUND sub-documents.

Sub-document type

The document type to be assigned to the sub-documents.

Create one sub-document per sheet

Select this option if a document is to be created for every single sheet. If you select Create one root document per scanned batch, one sub-document is created for every sheet.

The document type to assign to documents that are created for each sheet.

Replace illegal barcode characters with "?"

Select this option if XML-incompatible characters in the barcode are to be replaced by a question mark.
