The first page in a batch. This most often contains a separator field (typically a barcode that signals the first page).
The header can be a page that contains only the separator data and is otherwise blank. It can also contain other data besides the separator data.
In a production environment such batch headers have two purposes:
They make it possible for the collector to automatically route documents to processes after they are scanned.
They can provide information to users about the functional aspects of the batch.
Headers are used in the Register Documents activity and when Registering documents in XBOUND, for example.
Some call headers batch separators, because it is one type of separator.
