Edit a date and time format

  1. Click the format to open it in the right pane. Enter the values for the following properties.
    • Name: Name of the format.

    • Locale: The format is applied according to the assigned client locale. If no such assignment exists, or the Locale field is empty, Insight uses the default format. See Help for Insight Admin Console for more information about setting a locale.

    • Week starts on: Select the first day of the week that is used to organize the calendar and drill down the metric components by weeks.

  2. To apply the current format as the default format, select the Default check box. The default format is applied to all other locales that do not have a specific assigned format.
  3. In the Named Formats section, select the row and then select the Date and time check box if the time is specified. Then enter the value in the Format field according to the Microsoft standards.
    • Full: Apply this format to specify both the date and time, including seconds.

    • Date: Apply this format to specify the date without the time.

    • Date, with time: Apply this format to specify the date and time, without seconds.

Named formats are used in the following cases:

    • For a text component, in the Template section.

    • For the <Current date> template in the reports.

    • For a data series in a record. To apply the named format to a record grid, navigate to the Property Panel in Studio, select Use custom format, and then select the format under the Format name property.

    • For a Time window component. To apply the named format, navigate to the Property Panel in Studio, find the Date time format name property, and then select the required format.

  4. To edit Drill Down Formats, select the row and edit the Short format and the Long format. You can also expand the Time unit and Drill down lists to filter the values.

These formats are applied for metric components when you drill down by time. For example, in a chart that shows data for two years, the time is measured in years. If the chart is drilled down by months, the second level of measurement is months.

  5. In the Input Date Formats, you can define the pattern to use when entering dates and time. To edit a pattern, select it and enter the value.
  6. Click Save.
