About Nuance PDF Ribbons in Integrated Applications

Nuance PDF ribbon buttons in Microsoft Word

The Nuance PDF ribbon offers tools for PDF creation and unlocking (conversion). The three Create buttons correspond to the Nuance PDF menu items.

In Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint there is no Convert Settings tool, since these programs accept Standard document processing only.

Displaying the toolbar buttons in integrated applications

To use a PDF toolbar in other applications, Nuance Power PDF should be integrated in these applications. You can enable or disable the integration during a Custom Setup.

If you do not see these buttons in the ribbon of an integrated application, see Troubleshooting.

The Create buttons

This button lets you create a PDF file from the currently opened document, web page or mail attachments.

This button creates and lets you save a PDF from any source except a mailing system and attaches a copy to an empty e-mail message ready for sending.

This button lets you define settings.

The Convert buttons

Use the Open PDF/XPS tool to select a single PDF or XPS file to be converted and opened in the current application, ready for editing.

Access conversion settings to choose a preferred conversion mode in Word (direct conversion as Standard, Form or Legal, or use Convert Assistant). In Excel and PowerPoint there is no choice – the mode is always a direct conversion as Spreadsheet and Standard Document, respectively.

Tips

To access the Nuance PDF Create Properties dialog box in Word, choose File > Print, then the Nuance PDF printer driver and click the Properties button.

In Excel, to create a PDF file from the whole workbook, enable the toggle Create PDF from Entire Workbook in the Nuance PDF menu.
