Settings – Scanning Profile

To access this, open the Scan pane,  choose a profile and click the Settings button.

In the Settings – Scanning Profile dialog box, you can specify a profile name, the naming convention and file type for documents and other items that you scan to the PaperPort desktop. You can also use this dialog box to improve the image quality and adjust scanning settings.

In the Profile tab:

In the SET tab:

The following page sizes are supported: Letter, A3, A4, A5, B5 and B6. The availability of predefined page sizes depends on the scanner’s maximum supported size. The custom page size has to be larger than 1 inch x 1 inch (25 mm x 25 mm) and smaller than that of an A3 sheet. The percent value has to be between 1 and 999%.

In the Output tab:

Item names will be generated from name and suffix. They may also contain a prefix. Current date can be used either as an item name, or as a prefix or a suffix.

Either prefix or suffix must contain a sequential numbering scheme, so it has to be one of the following: (n), n, nn, nnn, nnnn or nnnnn. If this is not the case, the program sends you a warning.

This table summarizes available values for the Prefix, Name, Suffix and Name separator fields:

For some file types, you can click Options to further adjust image quality and, for “text” types, you can select OCR settings.

Tips

Click on the PaperPort button, choose  Options, and then click the Advanced tab to adjust the image quality for files.

Click on the PaperPort button, choose Options, and then click the Items tab to set the default numbering scheme,

In the Suffix field, select (n) if you want PaperPort to append numeric suffixes such as (2), (3), and so on; for example, Document (2), Document (3), and Document (4). The digit settings — nn, nnn, and so on — enable you to create names that are easily sorted in file lists. Select nn for two leading digits, nnn for three leading digits, and so on.

In the Scan tab:

To see possible settings, clear the Display scanner dialog box checkbox in the Scan or Get Photo pane.

Use the General group to set the following parameters (depending on your scanner type):

In addition, you can set brightness and contrast.
