Manage Trusted Identities

This Security Settings dialog box serves to store the Public Key ID files of people who trust you and you want to trust. Click Security > IDs and Certificates > Trusted Identities to open the dialog box, with the Trusted Certificates node selected on the left.

  • Click Add ID to locate and add a Public Key ID file someone has sent you. Typically this will be a file with an extension p7b, p7c or cer. To see the typical contents of such a file go to Digital Identities Overview. You should also add the certificates of Time Stamp Authorities if you want to use their services to verify the authenticity of dates and times in signatures. You should add the certificate from any Certificate Authority (CA) you or your partners want to use.

  • Click Remove ID to exclude the selected ID from the list, if it is not currently in use. Confirm removal by clicking OK.
  • Click Export Certificate to save the selected certificate to a file or send it via email.
  • Click Certificate Details to see all available details on the selected certificate.
  • Click Search to help you locate such files on Directory Servers maintained by Certificate Authorities.
  • Select a Trusted ID file from a Certificate Authority and click Set as a Trusted Root to always trust any document sent via this Authority.
  • Click Refresh to download updates from the Kofax EUTL server and actualize the local Kofax EUTL list. To display the list, click the Kofax EUTL node under Trusted Certificates.

You can maintain the list either automatically or manually.

  • Manage the certificates with the Remove ID, Export Certificate, Certificate Details, and Refresh buttons, as described above.
