Viewing Options

To view PDF documents, you can hide ribbon controls to get a clean work area.

Click the tab of the currently opened ribbon to remove the ribbon; click it again to restore the ribbon.

Click a tab and drag it to move a ribbon to a floating position. Click and drag the tab again (not the ribbon window's title bar) to re-dock it in the ribbon area.

Choose File > Info > Edit Properties > Initial View to customize the appearance of the document and the program window whenever the document is opened in future. See Document Properties for details. If you receive a PDF that displays no ribbons or tabs, press F9 to restore them.

To view with Full Screen display

full screen icon

  • Choose View > Page View > Full Screen, or press Ctrl+L, or click the Full Screen Mode button in the View bar to switch to Full Screen.

  • Use tools on a small toolbar bottom right to move to Next or Previous page (or use PageDown and  PageUp).

Grid display

Grids help you tidy up page layout.

To use grids

alignment icon

Select Edit > Tools > Alignment to access alignment and grid options.

  • View Grid: Shows grids on your document page (Ctrl+U).

  • Snap to Grid: You can select and move objects so they align with the nearest grid lines and custom guide lines (Shift+Ctrl+U).

  • View Rulers: Shows the rulers beside the document area (Ctrl+R). While dragging an object, its position is projected on the rulers.

  • View Guides: Displays custom guide (grid) lines. To add a custom guide (grid) line, drag it off from a ruler.

  • Line Weights: Toggle line display between original and schematic weight. If active, then lines appear with their thickness, otherwise all the lines uniformly show up with 1-pixel width, regardless of the actual zoom level.

To deactivate the above options, just click the command or use the keyboard shortcut again.

Define Grid properties under File > Options > General > Units & Grids.
