Configuring the Classification activity

The Classification activity is used for document classification and document separation in your XBOUND process.

Note: Before you configure any process step, you must first:

Please refer to XBOUND Help for instructions.

Before configuring the Classification activity

If you have not already done so:

  1. Import a solution from Capture Components Administration.

  2. Add the Classification activity to the XBOUND Process Designer. (Refer to XBOUND Installation Guide or XBOUND Help for instructions.) The DLL to select is XBoundActivityDU.dll.

  3. Assign the Classification activity to at least one instance of the XBOUND Activities Service. (Refer to XBOUND Help for instructions.)

  4. Add the Classification activity as a step in a process. Classification must precede all of the other ReadSoft Capture Components activities.

To configure the Classification activity

  1. Right-click the activity and select Parameter set. The Classification activity settings are displayed.

  2. Under Parameter set, select the one you want to use for this activity.

Important: In a process that uses Knowledge Processing, all activities prior to the Knowledge Processing step must use the same Parameter set.

  3. Under Batch specification, select the batch specification that contains the document specifications that you want to use this activity on.

  4. Optional: Select Save character data.

Select this option only when you need information about individual characters. That is the case when you want to rubberband not only entire words but also parts of words during Verification, for example.

This option creates a character object in the data model for each character. When this option is not selected, the characters are saved as a string in the corresponding Word object.

Warning: This option significantly increases the memory requirements during Interpretation and Verification.

  5. To use document classification in the activity:

    1. Select Use document classification in this process step.

    2. Select The documents are pre-separated if the documents to be processed by this activity are already separated into documents using another method.

Otherwise, select Automatic document separation and configure how separation is to be done. (The settings are described here.)

  6. Optional: Select a default document type for this activity. This is the document specification that will be assigned to the document if another one cannot be assigned with confidence. Or, by also selecting Only assign if no guess is available, you can ensure that the default is used only if no guess is available at all.

  7. Click OK.
