Before you start processing invoices in a solution that uses Invoice modules, you describe the invoices – what type of information they contain and how much of this information you want to process – to the program. You do this by (among other things) using the Invoice Manager module to create invoice profiles. This is part of setting up an invoice solution.
An invoice profile is a general description of the information that you want to extract from a particular group of invoices. One invoice profile can be used for invoices from many different suppliers.

An invoice profile tells the system how to process invoices. It also tells the system which information to look for on unknown invoices.

An invoice profile is not an image of an invoice, neither is it the position of the identifiers or fields on the invoice. This specific sort of information is saved in invoice definitions.
