Archiving the system audit trail

System audit trail records that grow too large can have a negative impact on database performance. Regularly archiving system audit trail items helps keep the database running smoothly.

To archive system audit trail records:

  1. Open the Archive system audit trail dialog.

  2. Specify the database containing the system audit trail data to archive:

    • Production area if the built-in runtime system is used (which it always is in DOCUMENTS 7).

    • The name of the runtime system if multiple runtime systems are used.

  3. Next to Archive items older than, specify the date used for archiving of system audit trail records.

  1. Read the information presented and if necessary specify a new date.

  2. Click Create archive.

Note:Data from all solutions is archived. The resulting file can be quite large (a file containing one million items is approximately 1GB). However, archive files are compression-friendly and zipping them reduces file size by nearly 85%.
