Manually selecting field values

Sometimes a field value might be incorrect or empty because:

During the Verify activity, when the mouse is displayed as crosshairs in the Document view, you can draw a rectangle around a field or double-click a character in the field, to quickly select the field value.

  1. Use the mouse, displayed as crosshairs, and select the field by:

    • clicking and drawing a rectangle around the field.

    • double-clicking any character that is part of the field.

All characters present in the field are selected and the value is displayed in the field view.

  2. Press Enter to confirm the field. The field is validated.

  3. If the value does not match the specified extraction format, a validation error occurs. If this happens, check that you selected only those characters that are part of the actual field, and not any that are part of the heading. ClosedExample:

If the field heading is Tel or Account No, and the field contains nine numbers, be sure to only select the numbers. Letters are not part of the format and cause a validation error when selected.

If you double-clicked the field, try carefully drawing a rectangle around the numbers instead.

  4. Select the field value again, type in the value or skip the document and return to it later.
