Sometimes it is necessary to clear and reinitialize one or more FORMS databases.
This may be required when you install a new FORMS version. It is also recommended as a regular step in database maintenance.
Reinitializing one or more databases is also practical during centralized maintenance of form definitions, set definitions and tables, when it can be less time-consuming to export all current definitions, reinitialize, and import the current definitions again than to remove outdated files one by one.
Another reason might be that you need to initialize the form database (as opposed to the form definition database) because the form definitions used in the jobs changed. This might occur, for instance, if your system crashes and it is not possible to re-create the form definition database exactly as it was.
You must export all form definitions, set definitions and tables that are in use from the respective databases to files before you clear them, since the contents of the databases are destroyed in the process. After the databases are reinitialized, you can import those definitions and tables.
Close all modules except the Manager.
Select ð Clear/initialize databases. The Initialize databases dialog is displayed.
Select the databases you want to clear or initialize (tables, form definitions, forms, and/or set definitions). Note: When you select Initialize forms, FORMS' image database is automatically initialized, as well.
Click OK to begin the process.
