The Barcode list box is only available when you have chosen Barcode as your field type. Select a barcode type from the list box. EAN13 is the default type. If you are unsure about what type of barcode appears on your forms, FORMS can help you check the barcode type.
You can select Automatic as a barcode type when more than one type of one-dimensional barcode (not PDF417, Postnet, or BP04) is used on the same form. FORMS checks which type of barcode it is upon interpretation.
Note that selecting Automatic makes interpretation slower than selecting a single barcode type. Note also that it is not possible to find out after interpretation (for example in the transfer file) what type of barcode was interpreted.
In the Specification box, you must indicate the type and number of characters the barcode contains.
Use the same symbols as when you specify character fields.
If you are unsure about the number of and type of characters allowed in your barcode, see Barcodes supported by FORMS, which contains that information.
Note: The format specification is not used during interpretation. It is used as an extra check after interpretation.
