Ignore unit characters is an option that you can select when defining character fields on a form definition. In the Field dialog, click the Options tab.
If you select Ignore unit characters, FORMS ignores any uninterpretable characters when they follow a full format of interpretable characters that have passed validation.
This option is particularly useful for numeric fields where people might fill in unit designations such as "cm", "ft.", etc., since FORMS would otherwise try to interpret such designations as more numbers.
However, this option is not suitable in all cases. For example, if a field format is N(2-3) and the filled-in text is 34 lb., the function fails, because both 34 and 341 are valid according to the format. FORMS interprets the letter "l" in "lb." as the number 1 (one).
