Editing set logic

Set logic specifies which, how many and in what sequence forms can appear in a set. It also determines when a new set begins (called set break). Specify set logic in the Set definition dialog.

First, choose the most suitable of the three predefined logic types.

Then adjust Level to indicate the hierarchy of forms in the set. Click or double-click the boxes under Level and type the rank of the forms from top to bottom, starting with 1. Keep in mind that a set break must occur at level 1 (not level 2 or level 3, for example). Note: Read about Alias if you have a number of nearly identical forms to be processed at the same time and in the same way.

Use From to specify the minimum number of forms of each type that are allowed.

Use To to specify the maximum number of forms of each type that are allowed. To specify that there is no limit to the number of forms allowed, type 999 under To. (In this field, 998 is a maximum number and 999 indicates an infinite number of forms.)

Select Sequence if the sequence you specified is mandatory.

When you are filling in the set logic table, you can change several values at once. Below each item Level, From and To, there are controls to increase (up arrow) and decrease (down arrow) the column values.

When you click the arrows, values are changed for every form definition from the top down, starting with the selected form definition. Thus, if you click the top form definition and then on the up arrow, all column values are increased, and if you select a line in the middle and then click the down arrow, all the column values from there on down are decreased.
