When scanning stops and the Operator control dialog displays Unidentified form, this means that an unidentified form is scanned, or the forms in a set are scanned in the wrong order. The unidentified form is displayed on the screen. The table below shows your options.
Exception: Unidentified forms are not displayed if is selected in the dialog.

What you can do |
How to do it |
|
Disregard the form and continue scanning |
Click Continue. The unidentified or rejected image is discarded. This is appropriate, for example, when an extra page is scanned by accident. Forms that passed through the scanner after the unidentified form are saved and processed as usual. |
|
Rescan the form |
Click Rescan. All forms scanned after the unidentified form are ignored.* Choose Rescan if the sequence of the forms is of significance, for instance if you are processing batches or sets. (See instructions.) |
|
Specify a form definition and then continue scanning |
(Only possible if and are selected in the dialog.)
|
|
Stop the Scan job |
Click Stop. (If you are scanning batches, read this to see if you need to scan some pages again.) Both the unidentified form and any forms that passed through the scanner after the unidentified form are ignored.* |
* Depending on the scanner card installed in your computer and the type of scanner you are using, the scanner can be several forms ahead of the Scan. In other words, the scanner might have images stored in its internal buffer that FORMS has not yet received. (See ScanAhead for more information.)
It is therefore important that you choose the correct course of action, particularly if you have a fast scanner. Extra care is required if you are scanning batches, because the unidentified form can be the last one in one batch, while forms in the buffer belong with the next batch.
