Scanner settings: DPI (resolution)

Select which resolution you want to scan forms at. Do this in the DPI (dots per inch) box in the Scanner settings dialog. You can normally choose among values between 100 and 600 DPI. Only the resolutions available for your scanner are available.

Important: Image processing is faster at lower resolutions.

For black and white scanning, we recommend the default setting (200 DPI) in most cases.

For grayscale and color scanning, we recommend 100 or 150 DPI.

Higher resolution (typically 300 DPI) may be suitable for:

Important notes

Using a higher resolution slows the Scan, Interpret, and Verify modules, especially when color or grayscale scanning is used.

Since only form definitions with the same resolution mode can be run in the same job description, we recommend that you decide on a standard resolution and use it consistently.
