Scanner settings: Scanning quality
If you select Grayscale or Color in the Scanner settings dialog, you can also adjust the scanning quality. The better the quality, the larger the file size.
This adjustment only has an effect if you export forms to image files, or in a few cases where a scanner (for example a Kodak color scanner) is controlled by parameters from within FORMS.
If interpretation needs to be improved by increasing the amount of detail captured, increase the quality. See also Suggestions for fine-tuning interpretation.
If exported image files are too large, you can try decreasing the quality.

-
If information is captured from the images, decreasing the file size can impair interpretation. Before using lower scanning quality in production, test the new setting to see if the files are of sufficiently good quality for your purposes.
-
If two forms of different image quality are scanned using the same Scan job, the exported images get the quality of the first form definition listed first in the job. This can cause problems, for example if the first form is a simple black and white form and the second one is a much more complex form containing text to be interpreted. If a Scan job contains more than one form, ensure that the one with the better scanning quality is listed first.
