By default, archive transactions have a fixed length. (In the Transfer job description, you can set the record size for standard transactions but not for archive transactions.)
For a variable archive transaction size, add this setting to the [Transfer] section of Ehlocal.ini:
[Transfer]
VariableArchiveRecordSize=1
The result is that each transaction is adjusted to its actual size.
