Usually, you insert predefined transaction fields from the Available fields list in the Transaction description dialog, and there is no need to edit them or create your own from scratch.
However, you use this dialog to specify the format of the output data or to create new transaction fields.

Form in set |
If the transaction description is for a set definition, you can specify which form definition a transaction field belongs to. |

Occurrence |
When a form can occur more than once within the same set, specify which occurrence of the form (within the set) the transaction field relates to. |

Field name |
Select a system variable or field from the form definition, or create a new transaction field by typing a new name. Warning: When you change the name of an existing transaction field, the remaining properties change automatically. Check them, and adjust if necessary. |

Index |
The index of the field. |

Format |
Specify the format of the output data. The format is T(i). (More info.) |

Justification |
Select how the data field is to be justified within the space allotted to it. (More info.) |
|
Pad character |
Type the character you want FORMS to use to fill out a field if its value does not take up the space allotted to it. (More info.) |
|
Pad always |
Overrides the Compact setting for the individual transaction field. |
|
Length |
The maximum number of characters allowed in the transaction field. |
