Autorotate activity

This activity straightens skewed TIFF and JPEG images, and then it rotates them to the correct reading direction. It processes the root document and all sub-documents recursively.

Notes

The following settings are available when configuring a process step of this activity type.

Rotation mode

Select whether back pages are to be rotated exactly like the front pages (Rotate sheet (back page like original)), or if they are to be rotated mirror-inverted (Rotate sheet (back page mirror inverted)), or if they are to be rotated independently (Rotate page).

Operation

Select whether to apply content-based rotation after deskewing:

  • Deskew – The image is deskewed.

  • Deskew and autorotate – OCR is used to determine the rotation angle of certain zones of the image. This information is then used to adjust the image. (Using this on documents with tables can be problematic.)

  • Advanced autorotate – Images are interpreted in all four directions, and the direction that results in the best interpretation is applied.

Tip: If deskewing does not have the desired result, try Deskew in the Process Images activity.

Standard horizontal rotation

Select whether the straightening is to start from the top or bottom.

Standard vertical rotation

Select whether the straightening is to start from the left or right.

Work on empty pages

Select if the processing is to be applied to media whose Empty flag is set.

Type a value to save in the image properties. (This text will not be visible on the image.) If additional information already exists there, what you enter here will be separated by a semicolon from the existing information. Example:

Before:  ExistingInfo

After:  ExistingInfo;NewInfo
