Build Document Structure activity

This activity is used to set up a new sub-document level. The media are typically transferred to the sub-document. This activity works only on the last document level; that is, in a document hierarchy, only documents that do not contain any sub-documents are processed.

Note: This activity must be assigned to an Activities Service in order to run.

If for some reason you need to add this activity to the Process Designer, the file to add is xboundActDocBuilder.dll.

The following settings are available when configuring a process step of this activity type.

You can create sub-documents in three modes. The settings vary depending on which mode you select.

Sheets or pages

A new sub-document is created from a fixed number of pages or sheets. (ClosedMore information about its settings.)

  • For every __ sheets – A sub-document is always created for a set number of sheets. This number is specified after Number of sheets or pages.

  • For every __ pages – A sub-document is always created for a set number of pages. This number is specified after Number of sheets or pages.

  • Number of sheets or pages – Number of sheets or pages for which a sub-document is to be created.

  • Class of created sub-documents – The created sub-documents are assigned this document type.

Classes

Sub-documents are created on the basis of the media's classification results. This is ideal for scenarios preceded by a content-based classification of media. Sub-documents are created on basis of the found document types (here called classes) of the media. This mode works page by page. (ClosedMore information about its settings.)

  • One sub-document per class – Exactly one sub-document is created for each found document type, and all pages having this document type are moved into this sub-document.

  • Several sub-documents per class – A sub-document is created whenever the document type of the current sub-document differs from the type of the current page (or a current sub-document does not yet exist.

The processing of unclassified pages (that is, pages whose media do not have a document type) depends on these settings:

  • Not moved – Unclassified pages are ignored so that they remain in the source document.

  • Moved to last class – Unclassified pages are moved into the current sub-document. If there does not yet exist a current sub-document, the page remains in the source document.

Separators

Particular media are interpreted as separators that control the creation of sub-documents. This is ideal for creating a document level. It works sheet by sheet.

A new sub-document is created for each sheet that does not have the same document type as the source document. Sheets without a document type or sheets with an unrecognized document type are moved to the current sub-document. (ClosedMore information about its settings.)

  • Unused classes – Document types for which no sub-document is to be created.

  • Used classes – Document types for which a sub-document is to be created.

  • Keep separator for class start – The sheet is taken over if it signifies the beginning of something.

  • Keep separator for class end – The sheet is taken over if it signifies the end of something.

  • Only assign document type to media and create no document – This is a sub-mode. No sub-documents are created, but the current sub-document type is assigned to all unclassified pages.

  • Include back pages – Back pages are checked, as well.

These settings apply to all three modes:

Sub-document name prefix

Select Parent if you want to prefix the auto-generated document name with the name of the parent document and then an underscore ( _ ).

Reduce document level before

Removes the last sub-document level before structuring. The media are moved to the parent document.

These settings are also available:

Import button

Imports settings from an XML file that was previously created using Export.

Export button

Exports the settings to an XML file. Specify the file name and location. You can then import the XML file to get the same settings. See Exporting and importing process step settings.

Check regular expression link

Opens a test form, where you can (when applicable) check a regular expression.
