The Flow Chart Layout Manager dialog

ClosedTo access this dialog:

  1. Using the XBOUND Management Center, open a console containing the Process Designer, Process Monitor, or SLA Report Manager.

  2. Click the Flow Chart Manager button ().

Use these settings to changing the appearance of a process diagram. You can also save your process diagram to a PDF file.

The following layouts are available. Click them to see available settings.

ClosedLayered Layout ()

Node distance

The distance between the process steps. The higher the number, the more space there is.

Orientation

Whether the process steps are displayed horizontally or vertically.

Apply immediately

If selected, the layout of the process is changed immediately. The layout is updated in the Overview pane of this dialog, as well as in the main window of the plug-in you are working in.

ClosedGrid Layout ()

Iterations

Determines how often the algorithm is used.

Grid Size

How big the grid is.

Apply immediately

If selected, the layout of the process is changed immediately. The layout is updated in the Overview pane of this dialog, as well as in the main window of the plug-in you are working in.

ClosedSpring Layout ()

Node distance

The distance between the process steps. The higher the number, the more space there is.

Apply immediately

If selected, the layout of the process is changed immediately. The layout is updated in the Overview pane of this dialog, as well as in the main window of the plug-in you are working in.

ClosedTree Layout ()

Node distance

The distance between the process steps. The higher the number, the more space there is.

Type

The type of tree format: Cascading, Horizontal/Vertical, Centered, and Radial.

Direction

The direction the processes are displayed in.

Arrows

How the arrows are displayed (for example, Straight or Rounded).

Apply immediately

If selected, the layout of the process is changed immediately. The layout is updated in the Overview pane of this dialog, as well as in the main window of the plug-in you are working in.

ClosedSimulated Anneal Layout ()

Apply immediately

If selected, the layout of the process is changed immediately. The layout is updated in the Overview pane of this dialog, as well as in the main window of the plug-in you are working in.

ClosedCircular Layout ()

Apply immediately

If selected, the layout of the process is changed immediately. The layout is updated in the Overview pane of this dialog, as well as in the main window of the plug-in you are working in.

ClosedAutomatic Arrow Routing ()

Node distance

The distance between the process steps. The higher the number, the more space there is.

Apply immediately

If selected, the layout of the process is changed immediately. The layout is updated in the Overview pane of this dialog, as well as in the main window of the plug-in you are working in.

ClosedOrthogonal Layout ()

Apply immediately

If selected, the layout of the process is changed immediately. The layout is updated in the Overview pane of this dialog, as well as in the main window of the plug-in you are working in.

ClosedFlow Layout ()

Node distance

The distance between the process steps. The higher the number, the more space there is.

Bend links between non-adjacent nodes

Process rules curve around nearby process steps.

Apply immediately

If selected, the layout of the process is changed immediately. The layout is updated in the Overview pane of this dialog, as well as in the main window of the plug-in you are working in.

ClosedFlow Chart Layout ()

Node distance

The distance between the process steps. The higher the number, the more space there is.

ClosedTopological Layout ()

Node distance

The distance between the process steps. The higher the number, the more space there is.

If selected, the layout of the process is changed immediately. The layout is updated in the Overview pane of this dialog, as well as in the main window of the plug-in you are working in.


If you click Extended Settings (), these additional settings are available:

General  
  • Color – The background color.

  • Grid style – Displays the grid as a pattern of dots or lines. To hide the grid, select None.

  • Link style – The style of the lines that connect the process steps.

  • Link width – How wide the lines are.

  • Grid width – How wide the grid is.

Link head shape
  • Type – How the front tips of the links are displayed.

  • Size – How big the front tips of the links are.

  • Color – The color used in the front tips of the links.

Link base shape
  • Type – How the end tips of the links are displayed.

  • Size – How big the end tips of the links are.

  • Color – The color used in the end tips of the links.

Apply immediately

If selected, the layout of the process is changed immediately. The layout is updated in the Overview pane of this dialog, as well as in the main window of the plug-in you are working in.

Additional functions

Reset ()

Reverts to the appearance that was used before you opened the Flow Chart Layout Manager.

Tip: To revert to the default XBOUND appearance, close the Flow Chart Layout Manager and click Reset ().

Save ()

Saves (or exports) your process diagram to a PDF file.

Zoom in or Zoom out ( or )

Magnifies or reduces the diagram incrementally.

Zoom to Fit ()

Fits the diagram to the available space. (You can resize the available space without closing the Flow Chart Layout Manager.)

Opacity

Increases transparency of the dialog so that you can see what is happening underneath it.
