The following settings are used when configuring custom document structures for the Collector for IMAP:

Toolbar

Max. root document size

Specify the maximum number of sub-documents per root document. This simplifies processing downstream. It also serves to optimize the processing speed when large quantities of email are processed in a single import operation.

Standard templates

Select a template to base your structure on. These options are available:

  • Document per email* – Creates one root document per import operation. From each separate email a sub-document is created, with its attachments as media.

  • Document per attachment* – Also creates one root document per import operation. From each separate email attachment a sub-document is created, with the attachment as medium.

  • Document per medium format* – With this template you can create "unmixed" sub-documents. As with the previous templates, a root document is created, from each separate email a sub-document is created. Then the attachments of each email are grouped by media format and a sub-document is created with each resulting format group.

  • Custom defined – An empty structure is created, and you must add all of the actions manually. (See instructions.)

* When you select these templates, default actions with standard settings apply to each type of object (email batches, individual emails, and attachments) to be imported. You can then adjust those settings as desired: Select a action to display the document name or type settings in the lower part of the dialog, where they can be edited.

(Create structure)

Executes the above settings in the lower part of the dialog.

(Preview settings)

Opens the Sample emails dialog, where you can configure the preview.

The Structure settings tab

Add structure functions to import objects

Here you determine how the structure is affected by the import of each type of object (email batch, individual email, and attachment).

Available actions:

  • Create document

Generates a new document. The first document at the highest level is a root document. All subsequent "create document" actions work within the most recently generated document, which means that sub-documents are generated.

  • Import all attachments

Imports email attachments as media in the most recently generated document. This action can only be taken on individual emails and email attachments (not on email batches).

  • Import attachments by medium format

As above, except that you can specify the medium formats to be imported.

  • Import email body (MHT)

Imports the body of the email messages in MHT format.

See instructions.
