The Audit Settings dialog

ClosedTo access this dialog:

  1. Using the XBOUND Management Center, open a console containing the Data Manager.

  2. Under Audit, click the link that says Click here for reading or changing the settings.

Use these settings to collect audit trail data:

Activate audit trail on server

Ensures that audit messages are sent to the logging database.

Specify the URL of the logging server, including the protocol and port number. Example: tcp://testserver:4445 (the protocol is TCP and the port number is 4445).

This setting overrides the common application setting that is specified in the Common Configuration Manager under Service Logging.

Tip: You can specify multiple servers using a pipe symbol ( | ) as separator. If the first server fails, the next one is used. Example: tcp://testserver:4445|tcp://logserver:4445

Include user log-ins and log-outs

Includes log messages when uses log in and log out of the system.

Note: Because the Windows service XBOUND Activities is also an XBOUND user, these messages can be very numerous. Therefore this option is not selected by default.

Activate audit trail synchronization

Enables synchronization with the audit trail database for archiving.

Then following settings are available:

  • Database provider – The database type.

  • Insert the database server name – The name of the database server.

  • Authentication type –  How users are authenticated, by using either a Windows user account or a specific user name and password.

  • Database name – The name of the database.

Click the Check connection button to test the connection.

Synchronize now button

After the audit trail settings are specified, click Synchronize now and confirm with Yes. The audit messages from the logging database start synchronizing to the audit trail database. Wait until the action has finished.
