Synchronizing several tasks

If you branch your process flow, you may need to synchronize (or merge) tasks at the point where the branches reconverge.

ClosedWhen should I synchronize tasks?

You must synchronize tasks when multiple tasks are generated. That happens when:

Multiple tasks are not generated when there is exactly one blue arrow and one green arrow. Therefore, in that case there is no need to synchronize tasks.
 

ClosedHow does XBOUND proceed when multiple process rules originate from a single process step?

  1. For each process rule that has a condition, XBOUND checks whether the condition is met.

  2. For each process rule whose condition is met XBOUND creates a task for the target process step of this rule.

  3. If none of the conditions are met, XBOUND creates a task for the target process steps of all process rules that have no conditions attached.
     

Use this procedure to synchronize tasks in parallel process branches

  1. Using the XBOUND Management Center, open a console containing the Process Designer.

  2. Under Process Navigation, click the desired process.

  3. In the Process area, click Process Design:

  4. Under Process Navigation, click the desired process.

  5. Right-click the process step at which the parallel process branches are to meet up again and select Input/Output Rules. The Input and Output Rules dialog is displayed.

  6. In Number of parallel tasks to synchronize, type the number of tasks to be synchronized in this process step.

  7. Select Allow parallel tasks.

  8. Click OK.

  9. Save the process by clicking the Save button:
