Changes in behavior
This topic describes behavior that is changed in Kofax Express 3.3.0, including:
ABBYY FineReader OCR engine replaced with Kofax OmniPage
The Kofax Express 3.3.0 release introduces the Kofax OmniPage OCR engine as a replacement for ABBYY FineReader and an overall improvement.
The OmniPage OCR engine is used for zonal recognition in the Indexing mode, and is the default engine used for exporting batches if a job is set up for PDF or PDF/A export through either Single Page or Multipage export connectors.
ICR settings removed
With the introduction of the Kofax OmniPage OCR engine, the "Type" and "Cell count" settings are removed from the ICR Print Type in the Zonal Recognition Setup window.
This change is introduced solely due to differences in the backend architecture of the Kofax OmniPage OCR engine in comparison to ABBYY FineReader; it does not affect the quality and overall performance of the character recognition functionality.
End of support for SharePoint export connector
The SharePoint export connector available in earlier versions of Kofax Express is deprecated in Kofax Express 3.3.0.
To export directly to Microsoft SharePoint, use the Kofax Export Connector for Microsoft SharePoint that can be downloaded from the Kofax Fulfillment Site.
