The File Menu in Power PDF offers the following items:
Info
Choose Description to see file properties. Click Document Protection and the dropdown item to make changes.
Choose Security to see the current security permissions. Click Document Protection and the dropdown item to make changes.
New
Choose a source for the new PDF and make further choices.
Open
Choose Recent Documents or Recent Places and choose one or more files Click the Pin to list tool to place selected files or locations in a separate group at the top of the listing. Alternatively, use Browse to find a file. Also available are Open Revisions or revert to last save. Files can also be opened from supported Cloud storage sites or (in Power PDF Advanced) Document Management Systems.
PDF and XPS files are opened directly, other files are converted to PDF during loading, which may take some time. To add non-PDF files, choose Browse and then All Files under File Type. To see a list of supported file types, open Create Assistant and click on Supported File Types.
When multiple files are loaded, each appears in a separate program window.
An alternative to File > Open is to place desired files on the desktop and drag-and-drop one or more of these supported files onto an empty window in Power PDF.
Open Revision
Open any previous saved version or revision of the current document; a list of saving states is shown by the time of saving, a saved revision additionally shows the label previously attached with the command Save Revision. The chain of past states is broken if the document is renamed; so to send a clean copy of a document with no interim states, save it to a new name. Revision storage can be disabled by an administrator at installation time, so saving and opening revisions may not appear at all.
Save
Save changes to the currently open PDF file.
Save As
Save changes to the currently open PDF file under a new name and possibly location.
The previously current document is closed, and any changes made since the last save do not enter that document; only the renamed one contains them. To retain changes in both documents, save the source document explicitly before using 'Save As'. Access current or recent folders or use Browse. Files can also be saved to supported Cloud storage sites or (in Power PDF Advanced) Document Management Systems.
Use 'Save revision' to save the current PDF document and apply a label to it, so you can return to the document in this state, using Open Revision. This feature can be disabled by an administrator at installation time, so it may not appear.
Send your current document to a printer, with the usual pre-printing choices. You can print to a physical printer or to a virtual printer, for instance to the Nuance PDF printer. Doing this is the only way to access Imposition settings, used to prepare a PDF for submission to a printing house. Use File > Options > General > Printer to set a preference: access the default printer or the last used printer.
Export
This offers a wide range of file types for exporting your current document. Almost all the targets have settings so you can influence the export. MS Office leads to Word (document or form) Excel, PowerPoint or XPS document. Image Format offers TIFF (single or multipage), JPEG or PNG. Text format offers Simple text or Unicode text - use the latter for text with less common accented letters or other alphabets. PDF format lets you choose Searchable PDF, MRC compression or saving to PDF/A - a set of file standards that exclude certain elements to make it resistant to technological evolution - that is, still readable after many years.
Share
Attach your current PDF document (or selected pages from it) to a new main message in your default mail application. The file name becomes the subject. Modify that as desired, add recipients and optionally add a message before sending. Also send your current document via e-mail to a fax machine. Provide recipient information and click Send. See Fax via e-mail.
Close
This closes the current document; if it has unsaved changes, you are invited to save them.
Options
Open a tabbed dialog box with a wide range of preferences for program behavior, for example Comment Preferences, Form Preferences, General Preferences and Security Preferences.

Click this icon at the top of the listing to return to the last opened ribbon.
Note
The entry to Advanced Edit Mode is moved to the left of the Edit ribbon. This mode lets you edit the PDF much more freely. An alternative is to use Convert Assistant, modify the document in a target application and then create a new PDF file.
Tip
To find tools in the ribbons, see Ribbon Overview.
