Input file properties

Table 1. Input file properties
Property name Description
Rotation OPS supports automatic recognition of page orientation, which is the default setting. In certain scenarios it might be desirable to use custom rotation settings. The available settings are:
  • Right

  • Down

  • Left

  • No

  • Auto (default)

Deskew Deskew compensates minor geometric distortions of input images. Uneven rotations and curved edges are common distortions but in case of camera images it is also common to encounter perspective distortions. Enable this setting to compensate these to some extent and drastically improve recognition accuracy. The available settings are:
  • AUTO

  • AUTO3D

  • 2D (default)

  • 3D

  • NO

Page range List of the pages to be processed, for example: 0,1,12-23,25,31-52. The numbering starts at 1.
Camera image Digital photos require other processing methods than scanned images. Select this option only if the image was made with a digital camera. The recognition module tries to determine if the source image file is captured by a digital camera or a smart phone, since camera images require different processing algorithms. If the image is already preprocessed, then the camera information (EXIF or resolution information) can be missing, therefore this setting helps to make sure the image is treated as if taken by a digital camera.
Despeckle The despeckle option removes speckles often found in scanned document images, and improves legibility.
Remove punch holes Detects and removes punch holes.
Skip blank pages The output file does not include blank pages if you select this option.
Automatic crop Performs automatic crop – dropping the blank area around the scanned or photographed page – during the page load.
Ignore PDF tags Ignores the tagging information included in PDF input files.
Open PDF as image Drops the text layers in the PDF input files and relies on image layers only.
