What's new

This topic lists new features and enhancements introduced to the products in Tungsten PSIcapture 2025.2 and in Tungsten PSIcapture Mailroom 2025.2.

PSIcapture and PSIcapture Mailroom rebranding

The user interface and documentation are fully rebranded to reflect the current product name, Tungsten PSIcapture. Earlier versions of PSIcapture were released by Kofax, Inc.

Please note the following changes related to rebranding:

  • Kofax PSIcapture: Renamed to Tungsten PSIcapture
  • Kofax PSIcapture Mailroom: Renamed to Tungsten PSIcapture Mailroom
  • Kofax PSIcapture Mailroom Direct Migration: Renamed to Tungsten PSIcapture Mailroom Direct Migration
  • Kofax PSIcapture Mailroom (Legacy) Migration: Renamed to Tungsten PSIcapture Mailroom (Legacy)
  • Kofax PSIsafe Affinity Direct Migration: Renamed to Tungsten PSIsafe Direct (Affinity) Migration
  • Kofax PSIsafe Direct (Legacy) Migration: Renamed to Tungsten PSIsafe Direct (Legacy)

PDF/TIF/Image Processing

PSIcapture has expanded functionality to handle high-megapixel pixels and has increased performance for various aspects of OCR processing. New options have been added to the Global Options configuration area that handle High Resolution PDF/Image Options to enhance the processing of high-megapixel images. For more information, see the Global Options section of the Tungsten PSIcapture Administrator Help.

The image size limit for PSIcapture is about 100 megapixels.

PixTools Toolkit Upgrade

PSIcapture has upgraded the PixTools toolkit to version 21.4 which increases performance and memory capacity for various aspects of the viewer.

Expanded Global Options tab

In addition to the PixTools features mentioned above, additional options which were previously only available by editing PSIcapture configuration files are now available in the Global Options tab, including:

  • Optimize for file size when saving image file
  • Support multithreading for OmniPage engine
  • Using the bank code is ABCD for MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition)
  • Binarize the scanned/imported images for Barcode recognition
  • Maximum retry to process an Auto Import batch from suspended queue: X Value
  • Check OCR files when configured Migrate OCR or Extended File Format files
  • Maximum image size for blank page detection: X value
  • Maximum number of mail searched per session (Auto Import): X value
  • Number of the PDF pages imported per section (Import File): X value

Enhanced FileBound Migration

The FileBound migration has been updated to add support for FileBound Version 8 and above - REST API. This also applies to FileBound lookups. For details, see FileBound Direct in the Migration section of the Tungsten PSIcapture Administrator Help.

Expanded PDF support

PSIcapture has expanded support for the following PDF conformance options:

  • PDF 1.6

  • PDF 1.7

  • PDF 2.0

  • MRC PDF

Additionally, information and comparative disk usage metrics for MRC Format (Multi-Raster Content Technology) have been added to the Workflow > OCR > PDF Options section of the Tungsten PSIcapture Administrator Help.
