The File Menu in Power PDF offers the followings:
Info
Choose Description to see file properties. Click Properties and the drop-down item to make changes.
Choose Security to see the current security permissions. Click Document Protection and the drop-down item to make changes.
New
Choose a source for the new PDF, further options are available on the right. You may select the following sources and options:
From File: Uses existing files to start your work, you may choose from the following options:
Create a PDF from a single file: Creates a new document based on a selected file. Various picture (.bmp, .gif, .jpg, .jpeg, .jpf, .jpx, .jp2, .j2k, .j2c, .pcx, .pcd, .psd, .png, .tga, .tif, .tiff, .wbmp) and document (.pdf, .htm, .html, .shtml, .doc, .docx, .ppt, .pptx, .xls, .xlsx, .rtf, .ps, .eps, .txt, .xps, .msg, .eml) formats are supported.
Create PDFs from multiple files: Starts Kofax PDF Create Assistant to convert selected files into separate PDF documents (See PDF_Create_Assistant for details).
Combine multiple files into a single PDF: Starts Kofax PDF Create Assistant to convert the selected files consecutively into one PDF file (See PDF_Create_Assistant for details).
Overlay multiple files into a single PDF: Starts Kofax PDF Create Assistant to overlay the selected files into a single PDF file. This can be used to combine a watermark, a header, and/or a footer with another document. (See PDF_Create_Assistant for details).
Blank PDF: Starts a blank, unnamed document with Advanced Editor active. Advanced Editor basically works the same way as Office applications, for details see Advanced_Edit_mode.
From Clipboard: Inserts the content of the Clipboard into a blank, unnamed PDF document, keeping text formatting, tables, and pictures.
Create PDF Portfolio: Starts Power PDF preloaded with a page introducing portfolios, and with the PDF Portfolio panel active. A PDF Portfolio may contain multiple files grouped together within a single container PDF file. For details see PDF_Portfolios.
From Scanner: Uses a scanner to import paper-based documents, you may choose from the following options:
Create new PDF from scanner: Invokes the scanner interface, or uses predefined settings and saves the scan job as a new PDF document. For details see Creating_PDF_files_from_a_scanner. If there is no scanner set up yet, then starts Scanner Setup Wizard, which guides the user in the scanner setup process.
Append new scan to current file: Invokes the scanner interface, or uses predefined settings and appends the scan job to an existing PDF document. For details see Creating_PDF_files_from_a_scanner. If there is no scanner set up yet, then starts Scanner Setup Wizard, which guides the user in the scanner setup process.
From Web Page Converts the specified web page to an unnamed PDF document. See Creating_PDF_from_a_Web_Page for details.
Open
Files can be opened from various locations. Choose one of the following sources, then select one or more files on the right:
Recent Documents: Lists the documents opened recently.
Click the Pin to list tool on the right of any list item (file or folder) to pin selected files or locations to the top of the list.
PDF files are opened directly, other files are converted to PDF during loading, which may take some time. To add non-PDF files, choose Browse and then All Files under File Type. To see a list of supported file types, open Create Assistant and click on Supported File Types.
When multiple files are loaded, each appears in a separate program window.
You may drag-and-drop one or more of the supported files onto an empty Power PDF window to open. (If you drag-and-drop files onto a Power PDF window with a document already opened, then the files will be used as attachments or stamps.)
Save
Save changes to the currently open PDF file.
Save As
Save changes to the currently open PDF file under a new name. (Pending changes will not be saved into the original document, but only into the document under the new name. To retain changes in both documents, save the source document explicitly before using Save As.)
Files can be opened from various locations. Choose one of the targets on the left, then select one of the following options on the right:
Starts the Print dialog box with the usual pre-printing choices and special features:
Click OK to send your current document to the selected printer.
Export
Power PDF offers a wide range of file types for exporting your current document. Almost all the targets have settings so you can influence the export.

Share
Power PDF offers the following methods for sharing files:
Close
This closes the current document; if it has unsaved changes, you are prompted to save them.
Options
Opens a tabbed dialog box with a wide range of preferences for program behavior, for example Comment Preferences, Form Preferences, General Preferences and Security Preferences. For details see Preferences Overview.
Click this icon at the top of the listing to return to the last opened ribbon.
Note
The entry to Advanced Edit Mode is moved to the left of the Edit ribbon. This mode lets you edit the PDF much more freely. An alternative is Convert Assistant, which can be used to convert PDF documents to an editable format, make the changes in the target application, and then create a new PDF file.
